Neuropsychological Evaluations
Dr. Judy specializes in evidence-based, comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations. A neuropsychological evaluation is a systematic and in-depth assessment designed to evaluate the functioning of the brain and its impact on an individual’s cognitive, emotional, and behavioral processes. It is also used to sort out complex differential psychological diagnoses such as co-occurring conditions (including substance use and process addiction disorders), personality disorders, treatment resistant symptoms, and symptoms that correlate with medical concerns. It involves the use of standardized tests and procedures to measure a range of cognitive abilities, including memory, attention, language, problem-solving, and executive functions; and also includes a thorough evaluation of clinical symptoms and personality traits.
The evaluation includes a thorough clinical interview to gather information about the individual’s medical history, psychological history, and current concerns. This information helps the neuropsychologist tailor the assessment to the specific needs and questions posed by the individual and/or their referring physician, psychologist, or other healthcare professionals.
During the assessment, the individual may engage in a series of standardized tests that are designed to tap into different aspects of cognitive functioning. The results provide valuable information about the individual’s strengths and weaknesses, helping to identify patterns of cognitive impairment or areas of concern.
In addition to cognitive tests, the evaluation may include assessments of emotional and behavioral functioning. This could involve questionnaires, interviews, and behavioral observations to gain insight into the individual’s emotional well-being, personality, and adaptive functioning.
Dr. Judy integrates information from the assessment to formulate a comprehensive understanding of the individual’s cognitive and emotional profile. The findings are then used to provide diagnostic clarity, guide treatment planning,
